A concert was performed on Saturday at Elmira High School with band, choir, orchestra, and modern band students representing over 30 school districts across the Southern Tier and Western New York. Mrs. Fox’s first grade class partnered with Mrs. Shafer’s first grade class from Oswego Central School to learn writing and listening skills. Each class created a monster then sent their partner class the instructions to recreate the monster. Once the recreations were complete, the two classes connected via videoconference to compare the originals and the recreations. The students shared similarities and differences as well as how the instructions were written and interpreted. Sounds like a fun way to learn about communicating!
