Catch up with the culinary staff: in the past few weeks they’ve made bagged lunches for field trips, catered the grades 7-12 field day, made snacks for the Arkport Academic Society Induction and, they’re biggest endeavor yet, they catered the Senior Banquet. Recently third grade students went to the zoo – the band petting zoo, that is! In General Music they learned about band instruments and then, when Mrs. Olix-Anderson and older students visited their class, were able to see, touch and hear each band instrument. Once they are in the fourth grade, they can join the band and keep the music playing!

Congratulations to all the special award winners at this past week's A-C Athletic Awards Ceremony. This year's senior class was truly remarkable. Here are a few stats that show just how special they are: 1. 70% of Arkport and Canaseraga seniors participated in athletics! 2. In total, this year's senior class has won 119 sectional titles! 3. Three seniors have won at least 10 sectional titles (Jenna Franklin, Braydon Brewster, Pierce Young)! 4. Pierce Young won a staggering 27 sectional titles!

Recently, fourth grade students were tasked with writing about an influential woman in history they admired. They were asked to explain why she is someone others can look up to as well. Their essays were submitted to a contest sponsored by the Alfred-Almond American Association of University Women that was open to area schools. The AAUW selected two winners, both from the Arkport fourth grade class, as winners! Evan Trimble and Otis Harper were recognized for their writing and were given the opportunity to read their essays to attendees at a banquet held in May. Both students received a medal in recognition of their work; congratulations to Evan and Otis!
