Hello Bluejay community,
It is our understanding that Governor Hochul will announce whether the state will cease or continue its mask mandate for school districts sometime during the week of Feb. 28.
If/when the state lifts its mask mandate for school districts, Arkport students, staff/faculty and visitors will be able to choose whether to wear masks in school. As always, masks will be provided to those who wish to wear them. Until then, we ask that everyone continues to wear masks in our school building.
In short, please continue wearing masks in our buildings until notified otherwise.
Throughout the pandemic, New York State has strongly encouraged community input on public health issues. To that end, we encourage you to continue advocating for yourself and your children to our state officials.
If COVID has taught us anything, it is what happens one day can change the next. I apologize for the frustration this has caused for all of you. On behalf of the district’s administration and board of education, please know that we share that stress with you and will do everything possible to continue to work towards a return to normalcy.
