Free Breakfast

The Arkport Central School District is always looking for ways to provide the best possible learning environment for all of our students. The faculty, staff, administration and Board of Education constantly strive to remove barriers to student success, and the Board of Education recently took action to remove one significant barrier: the cost of breakfast for students.

During its January meeting, the Board of Education approved providing a free breakfast to all students, regardless of their Free and Reduced Price Lunch (FRPL) status. We understand not every student will choose to take advantage of this offer, but all will know they have the option to have their first meal of the day at school. The free breakfast program will begin Monday, Feb. 3.

The Arkport Central School District is able to offer this opportunity because of generous donations from Steuben Trust Co. and Campus Construction Management Group. The donations made by these two companies to support Arkport's mission to provide food stability for all children will cover the cost of the program for the remainder of the school year.

Long-term financing will be made possible by the increased FRPL eligibility of district students. Many more of you have completed the FRPL application and, as a result, the percentage of students eligible for FRPL has increased to 46.5%. This higher FRPL percentage will result in a higher reimbursement rate for the district.

Thank you for your continued support as we move to make Arkport an even better school for all of our students.
