Arkport Central School District has been awarded a $1,500 Bee Grant through the Whole Kids Foundation. The grant will support the addition of a managed beehive on campus as part of our agricultural and environmental education program.

This initiative builds on our recent garden grant from the same organization and will provide hands-on learning opportunities for students to study pollinators and their importance to local ecosystems and food production.

As part of the grant process, we are required to notify our community of the installation of a live beehive on school grounds. The hive will be located in a secure, designated area and managed under strict safety guidelines. Students and staff will receive information on bee safety, and signage will be in place around the site.

The beehive will be used solely for educational purposes and to promote awareness about pollinator health and sustainability. The program will not include commercial honey production.

Community members with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact Connie Karr at ckarr@arkportcsd.org or 607-295-7471 ext.1121
