The Arkport Board of Education is continuing its search for the district’s next superintendent of schools with the support of an experienced search consultant who has worked with school districts across upstate New York.
Following the recruitment process, the district received 13 completed applications. The Board interviewed four candidates earlier this fall and has identified two finalists to advance in the selection process.
As part of the next phase, the Board is meeting individually with each finalist over two evenings in the form of a special meeting of the Board of Education, to be held on Wed., Dec. 17 at 4:30 p.m. at 60 Red Jacket Street, Dansville, NY and another on Thurs. Dec. 18 at 5 p.m., at 110 Main Street, Dansville, NY. Link to Board Docs
These meetings include a working dinner held offsite, followed by a formal interview session. Conducting a portion of the process offsite allows for extended discussion while maintaining confidentiality for the candidates, which is a standard and appropriate practice in superintendent searches.
All Board actions related to the search are conducted in accordance with the Open Meetings Law. Executive sessions are used when permitted by law to discuss matters involving personnel.
The Board remains committed to a thorough, thoughtful and transparent process that prioritizes the long-term needs of the district. Updates will continue to be shared with the community as the search progresses.
Thank you, Arkport Board of Education
