It is my pleasure to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the Interim Superintendent of Schools for the Arkport Central School District. The Arkport Board of Education has begun the search process for the new Superintendent of Schools. You will see more communication as the search process evolves.
I am very excited to be working with the Arkport Board of Education, the staff, students and the larger Arkport community. I live in Hammondsport, N.Y., and I have previous administrative experience in Dansville and Wayland. I retired in 2021 from The Orchard Park Central School District as Superintendent of Schools.
I consider schools to be a family of sorts, especially smaller school districts where many people know each other. For many years, I have known of Arkport's excellent reputation among area school districts, and I am looking forward to assisting the District as we transition to a permanent superintendent.
The building is busy this summer with summer programs and planning for our return in September, although I do not want to rush your summer!
One of the key changes for September is the new New York State-mandated student cell phone policy being implemented in September. A committee of stakeholders recently developed a cell phone policy for the District that was approved on June 11 by the Board of Education. Families will be hearing more details about the policy in the coming weeks.
I truly look forward to meeting our Arkport families soon as we transition into another great school year!
