Students from the Arkport Yorker’s Historical Club recently returned from an unforgettable three-day, two-night journey to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania—a trip designed to bring their classroom lessons on the Civil War to life.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to walk the grounds of one of the most significant battlefields in American history, explore historic landmarks, and deepen their understanding of the people, places, and pivotal events that shaped the nation. The experience allowed them to make powerful connections to what they've studied, turning history from textbooks into lived experience.
This incredible opportunity was made possible thanks to the support of many. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Canisteo Valley Historical Society for partnering with the club at the Historical Fair, the Arkport Legion for their generous donation, and the Battlefield Trust for providing grant funding to help cover the costs of visiting key historic sites.
The club also extends its appreciation to ACS families and community members whose donations at local events ensured that every student could attend the trip free of charge.
