PK-6 Principal's News to Know
August Newsletter
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year!
Our entire Arkport Central School elementary team is excited to begin another year filled with learning, growth, and connection. We are proud to be part of the caring and close-knit Arkport community and look forward to partnering with your family throughout the year.
One of our key goals is to build and nurture strong, positive relationships with all families. We are committed to fostering learning, encouraging open communication, and strengthening our school culture. We look forward to connecting with each of you in meaningful ways as the year progresses.
We encourage you to stay involved and engaged in your child’s education. Reaching out to your child’s teachers is a great way to build a strong home-school connection and support learning beyond the classroom. In turn, we are dedicated to meeting each student’s unique needs through the many programs and resources available at Arkport.
Our Principal’s News to Know newsletter will be sent out via email each month. To ensure you receive it, please make sure your current email address is on file with the district. Each month’s edition will also be available online through the links below. If you’d prefer a paper copy, feel free to send a note to Mrs. Coddington in the Elementary Office, and we’ll be happy to provide one.
On behalf of all our faculty and staff, thank you for your continued support in making Arkport Central School a wonderful place for students to learn and grow. We’re looking forward to a fantastic school year together. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
As always, thank you for being a valued part of our school community!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Smith

Procedures for Arrival and Dismissal

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures for 2025–2026
As we prepare to welcome students back, we want to share important information about arrival and dismissal procedures. These routines are designed with student safety and efficiency in mind.
Morning Arrival Procedures
There are two options for dropping off your student in the morning:
Morning Bus Arrival
Students arriving by bus may go directly to breakfast if they choose.
If not eating breakfast, they will remain on the bus until the first bell rings.
Parent Drop Off:
🚗 Stop & Drop
Enter through the PAC parking lot entrance and proceed to the drop-off loop.
The right-hand lane is for student drop-off only. Students must exit the passenger side of the vehicle.
Parents/guardians should remain in their vehicle.
After your student exits, safely merge into the left lane to exit the lot.
🚶♀️ Park & Walk
If you'd prefer to walk your student to the rear PAC entrance, you may park in the parking lot and walk your child to the door.
Please follow the directions of the staff member assisting walkers across the lot.
Drop-Off Begins at 7:30 a.m.
Students should not be left unattended. Staff supervision is available until 7:50 a.m.
After 7:50, students are marked tardy and must be signed in at the main front entrance.
Once inside, students will wait in the PAC until 7:50 a.m., unless they are headed to breakfast. Plenty of staff will be available to help guide students to their classrooms, especially during the first few days.

Afternoon Dismissal Procedures:
⏰ Dismissal Times
Grades PK –4th grade: Dismissal at 2:40 p.m. from the PAC.
Grades 5th – 6th grade: Dismissal at 2:40 p.m. from the PAC lobby street-side doors on East Ave to walk home or meet their ride at a pre-arranged location.
Please be extra alert that we may have students crossing to walk home or meet caregivers.
🧍♀️Pick-Up Procedure
PK-4th grade Parents/guardians will line up outside rear PAC doors for dismissal.
All PK-4th grade students will be dismissed through one door at the PAC.
Before the start of the school year, PK–4the grade families will be issued a pick-up number.
Please display this number when picking up.
Additional number cards are available upon request.
For additional pick up cards or to be assigned a number for your family, please reach out to Mrs. Coddington at 607-295-7471 ext. 1140 or scoddington@arkportcsd.org
A staff member will input your number, which will appear on a screen inside so students can see and hear you are here to pick them up.
This system is designed to ensure a smooth, safe, and secure dismissal process for all students and families. We appreciate your support.
