“Low risk” sports may return to game play this fall; additional guidance to follow

On Aug. 24, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the following “low-risk” sports can begin to practice and play across the state, beginning Sept. 21: cross country, field hockey, soccer, swimming and tennis.

In the coming days, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) and Section 9 Task Force will meet to discuss this announcement and a potential plan for our region.

Later this week, the district should have more guidance on how and when we can resume athletics.

The safety of our students and coaches remains the highest priority. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to seek guidance. The district will share additional information as becomes available.
